The publication Schianti. Tracce panoramiche per raccordare i secoli [EN] Forest Crash. A bridge of destruction and rebirth between Centuries, is a phygital illustrated book that provides a hybrid immersive experience. It collects a series of 9 spherical drawings
in equirectangular projection and their interactive version in VR.

The 360º drawings for Schianti where done on-site: while scouting with local guides to select the best historical and environmental spots, panoramic sketches were created on location, incorporating notes about past events and possible future plans. While scouting with local guides to select the best historical and environmental spots, panoramic sketches will be created on location, incorporating 360º sketching, notes about past events and future plans.
The technique used for sketching is ballpoint black pen on A4 white paper, easy to carry on mountain trails and allows for rough, spontaneous sketches. The basic structure and lines are drawn on location, then refined and finished during a second visit and in the studio.
the sketches are later digitized with an A4 scanner and adjusted on the seaplane and on the poles to make the interactive versions.
The book design features three leporellos to maintain the relationship between different themes on the same destination, includes GPS coordinates and site descriptions for in-person visits, and provides access to the digital dimension through QR codes on the back of each illustration. It also includes a booklet of historical and geographical maps and information, all contained in a hard slipcase to keep the content in place.

The book is one of the output of the project La montagna nel cuore e nella penna [EN] The mountain in the heart and in the pen.
The project, by the Association Think, Say, Do and funded by Regione Veneto and Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, documented and interpreted the effects of the Vaia storm and the First World War in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, focusing on the relations between events of destruction and rebirth, and emphasizing a sense of individual and collective responsibility, whether discussing war or environmental issues. The target areas include the Asiago Plateau, the Belluno Dolomites and the Belluno Prealps. Eleven artists have contributed with different actions: 360º infrared photographic prints, 360º sketches for an illustrated book and illustrations for screen prints. The project also included workshops in schools, engagement with local communities and exhibitions.
The 360º drawings were presented in the collective exhibition ALBERABILIA at Ateneo Veneto in Venice (December 2021) and Centro Lou Portun in Ostana (March 2022).
