urban representation / exploration / imagination / generation
My name is Chiara Masiero Sgrinzatto, I am a part-time student of DMAD, working as an illustrator for the VR industry. My research interests focus on spaces in its various forms and meanings, centering on the representation of environments through immersive media.
What is the essence of a space? Of a city? How it can be depicted, told, revealed?
A place is defined by its shape – built or unbuilt environment – and by people that interact with it and do things in there. There are aspects that we cannot see through our naked eyes, which have the potential to reveal environments in a different way compared to how our senses usually perceive them.
In my project I want to investigate the intersection between 360º hand drawings and 360º AI generated drawings, exploring environment in their spatial and narrative dimensions and their diverse connotations and meanings.
Thanks to the way sketches can synthesize and stylize concepts, scenarios and situations, panoramic drawings are able to grasp and immediately show the essence of an environment.
In addition, AI has the potential to interpret the places and generate visions that humans cannot imagine.
How AI can be not only a digital tool, but a creative asset to imagine? What are the narrative possibilities given by a different process?
