The VR experience “Egon Schiele – A Personal Encounter”, premiering in April 2025 at the Leopold Museum in Vienna and the Egon Schiele Museum in Tulln, Austria, combines interactive storytelling and personalized art creation, immersing visitors in the historical and emotional context of the Austrian painter’s life.

The project consists of two main components: a photo booth and a VR journey, both designed to enhance the narrative and overall experience. It begins with the visitor taking a self-portrait. Visitors are then invited to put on the headset to enter the world of 1918 Vienna. They arrive in Schiele’s bedroom, where the painter lies in bed, weak from a high fever. Despite his frail condition, Schiele engages with the viewer, sharing the triumphs and struggles of his life as he sketches their portrait, making each encounter a unique exploration of his world. As the player is immersed in the VR experience, the AI-generated portrait is printed, providing a tangible memento of the encounter and making the connection to the artist tangible.

I had the pleasure to work on the immersive animations, combining a variety of techniques, ranging from immersive hand-made illustration to 3D rendering and digital collage.
